My story as a film maker is an unusual one.

One of my biggest clients is a billionaire philanthropist from the USA. He asked me to accompany him on a meet and greet at a Malaria research project he had been funding. I shot stills and directed a film crew. After the shoot he asked me if I can do the same thing but by myself. So since then I have been perfecting the one man team film production. The incredible work I have done with him is summarised below, it has received over 30 million views on his twitter profile.

We are in an incredible age. For the first time in the history of the moving image, I am able to produce incredible broadcast quality 4K and even 8K productions by myself with the content of two camera bags. Modern technology has given me this incredible advantage. Yes having a team of 50 behind the camera, everyone with a very specific specialised task, is the recipe for beautiful productions, but sometimes that is not possible. Sometimes clients have considerable budgets that would be better spent on other aspects of the production than flying in a sound guy, sometimes the very nature of the subject matter means that a large team would not work, a lot of the conservation film making I do would be simply impossible with a normal crew.

For this reason there is a niche emerging of film makers like me that are able to put on the hat of Cinematographer, Drone Operator, Director, Sound Guy, DIT, Editor.

I have directed larger commercials with a full team, but I have become a specialist at this lower impact type of production.
